Overview

The Fi Series 3 is a GPS-enabled smart collar that tracks your dog’s location in real-time, monitors daily activity, and sends escape alerts if your pup leaves a designated safe zone.

After testing it on a 60-pound Labrador for three weeks, here’s our honest take.

Key Features

Feature Details
GPS Tracking Real-time, updates every 10 seconds in Lost Dog mode
Battery Life Up to 3 months (normal use)
Activity Tracking Daily steps, distance, and sleep
Geofencing Custom safe zones with instant alerts
Water Resistance IP68 — fully submersible
Subscription Required — $99/year or $9/month

What We Loved

The battery life is the standout feature. Most GPS trackers die in 1-3 days. The Fi lasted us 6 weeks between charges with daily walks and occasional location checks.

Escape alerts are near-instant. When our test dog crossed the geofence boundary, we got a notification within 15 seconds. In Lost Dog mode, the collar updates location every 10 seconds — genuinely useful for a panicking pet owner.

The build quality is excellent. After 3 weeks of mud, swimming, and rough play, not a scratch.

What Could Be Better

The subscription is mandatory. Without it, you get zero GPS functionality — the collar becomes a $149 step counter. At $99/year, the total cost of ownership adds up.

Indoor tracking is unreliable. GPS doesn’t work well inside buildings, so if your dog is lost in a neighbor’s house, you’ll get an approximate location at best.

The collar band options are limited in size. Dogs under 25 pounds may find the tracker module too bulky.

Who Should Buy This

The Fi Series 3 is ideal for:

  • Owners of escape-prone dogs
  • People with large yards or rural property
  • Anyone who travels with their pet
  • Hikers and off-leash adventurers

Skip it if: you have a small indoor dog, or you don’t want another subscription.

Verdict

The Fi Series 3 is the best GPS tracker we’ve tested for most dog owners. The battery life destroys the competition, escape alerts work fast, and the build quality justifies the price. The subscription stings, but for the peace of mind of always knowing where your dog is, it’s worth it.

Rating: 4/5 — Excellent hardware held back only by mandatory subscription costs.
